Default Lifting with Chronic Illnesses?

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year and suspect that I have lupus also (I have many symptoms that my mother with lupus has) and was wondering if anyone else has chronic illnesses but still manage to lift and have a healthy life with exercise.

Feeling really discouraged about it lately.

The problem with asking doctors is they tend to say "don't!" a lot; I shouldn't be lifting heavy with TOS and I'm sure my own doctors would advise against it (since all interent medical published info does) but I want to lift, so I lift.

Sometimes we just have to know and understand when to pull back and how much to put into training etc.
