Tank I will bust out your post today. I had to work from 7A to 11P yesterday, and didn't have time to write it up last night. By the way, I still got up at 4AM and did my lower workout as scheduled, and went back to work at 7A. Slept about 5 hours. It was tough. But I did it. It was not the first time (with my work responsibilities) and it will not be the last. I just KNOW the body will function just fine, with an occasional less sleep, when the "pattern-trend" has been normal sleep pattern (6 to 8 or so), with one day that just creeps up time to time in-between. Just common sense, and being in the military it makes me a cranky I know I can do it, old ass, anyway.

I normally don't post stuff like this, because I do not whine.....period, and is the reason I do not post things like this. But, I decided to open up a bit with my experiences as I move through my goal path.

Be looking for it my dear friend....hope your day is good.

Default Thoughts for the Day

Good morning, Elijah. Thank you for commenting.

A solid steel ship with a great foundation, steers itself into the wind. The waves rise, and toss the ship to and fro. The captain stays persistent because he/she has been trained in how to handle troubled water when the ocean gets upset and the winds are fierce. The ship didn't sink because of this training implementation, and there is a look of joy and happiness when the storm calms. A sense of accomplishment and relief.

(Chillen)

When you arm yourself in the circumference of knowledge applicable to your goal, and partake in goal driven "perception of this knowledge" beyond just the basics, one can implement and apply this different perception to resolve problems that develop and create some freedom of the self at the same time.

(Chillen)

With this in mind, one can even plan "eating over maintenance" or (deal with unplanned eating over maintenance" when deficit dieting and reduce guilt and the associated emotions that come with it).

For example, it can come down to 5 things: 1. Knowing your MT Line, 2. Viewing days for calories within a 24 hour cycle clock (knowing your prior history of deficits and current tabulation), 3. Knowing the approximate calories in deficit to lose an approximate pound of fat tissue, 4. Approximate calories burned during different types of exercise, and 5. Knowing how to manipulate calories and macro nutrients, and understanding one's glucose storage and how this works.

Manipulation of these 5 items can open up the mind! Look at them differently: Use them they are always there waiting.

These 5 things can be used as tools to assist one when one is thinking they may have messed up.

(Chillen)

Some things to think about:

I just "firmly" believe if one wants their goal bad enough they will "do what it takes" to get the job done. And, I believe in having a plan in place for weaknesses we all have......and embrace the mere fact they will come; there is no doubt. Why be surprised? Have a plan and you will serve yourself much better, I promise.

Here is an example:

If one were to "view" their days in 24 hour cycles "particular to their lifestyle" and all calories consumed would fit within this 24 hour cycle period. When one goes over their limit (for sake of argument--for what ever reason), the person can leave the calorie surplus for the period that day, and just flat "move on" and continue with the projected deficits the next day as before or develop a strategy and do something else--that can lead to being more productive

Can you tell me some things you can do with the 5 things I listed?

You give an example, And then I will post an real-life example in what I do--occasionally, to approximately keep my personal body weight about the same, though I eat over maintenance one to two days (sometimes the weight can even drop)

One more thing to remember, that some people miss: When one is on a deficit diet for a rather long period, for example, the body is much more "tolerant" to a calorie surplus dependent on the amount of the surplus, and in most cases will not even make an impact against ones goal--especially just one day among many calorie deficits of the past.

I would thoroughly enjoy your feed back: Get your mind rocking and a rolling!

One of the MAIN reasons I am successful, is due to knowing how to "manipulate perception" of things learned and how to apply this "manipulated perception" to "strengths and weaknesses". This can save a ton of sorrow and can create much happiness.

When learning certain information on health and fitness, learn how to "think deep" past the obvious topic at hand, and how some information that you are reading can be applied to "invest within yourself" to combat weaknesses and entice strengths and in some cases, allow a strength to assist a weakness.

Learn to work with and manipulate the basics of nutrition and fitness--VIEW IT DIFFERENTLY...

EDIT: Set your own "realistic" standards.

ROCK ON!

Thanks Tank.

I tweaked my back this morning doing heavy barbell rows. It isn't bad, but its bitching a little bit. I am still doing lower tomorrow morning. I set up an extended warmup prior, and we shall see how this turns out with my stubborn ass.

You have set good sound goals, Tank.

START this thing!

ROCK this thing!

SMOKE this thing!

Cook this thing!

Fry and Roast this thing!

Get a fork..........Dang!-------> Its already done.......HE HE HE HE HE HE

Now, its up to your mind and body to get this done. This does in fact mean, EVERYTHING that life throws at you, YOU MUST be able to deal with, and treat your goals--as you would any other priorities in life. And, whether you do or do not get support from others (DO not DEPEND ON IT). Support and motivation is from WITHIN.....period. Outside support is fine it helps, seek it, but do not....depend on it as a type of requirement to see your goal through.

You must "Master yourself" to reveal your inner and outer true power.

YOU WILL FEEL THE THUNDER WHEN YOU GET IT RIGHT!

================================================== ======

If you believe in yourself and what you're trying to achieve, act like it. Spend time on the things that you value. Give your goals the attention they deserve. Live your life every day trusting the wisdom of your direction. Knowing you can do it is a great first step to getting anything done. The next, often tougher step, is turning the words of your wishes into a solid way to make it happen.

Setting and achieving goals can be very overwhelming if cognitive systems aren’t put in place. This "system" can take many different forms for an individual person. Through trial and error, you will have to find the "Personal System" that will work for you that will achieve your goal.

================================================== =======

Tank:

Take opinions and advice and apply a "self-standard" test within your heart, and this will direct your personal path.

NEVER "abandon yourself"......for the sake of another persons advice or opinion.

================================================== =======

The BEAST in the HEAD must be Wiser than the BEAST WITHIN

(Chillen)

Its always these to battling each other....think about it.

Can Tank, Handle it?

================================================== =======

I want to share something person with you. When I first started to lean down, and and still learning on how my body reacted to deficits, and macros, (etc), I had a lot of issues to workout. It flat didn't come easy. People can say all they want, pick on persons whom want to be lean enough to see their abs (I do not care one bit), it doesn't take away just how hard it can be...

I want you to tell me, what my point is, and what the learning lesson is, in posting this short but true story.

He is a short story:

People whom have been successful with their fitness goals, have something within them, that keeps the motivation strummed, and its called "heart".

I am going to use myself as an example:

What of my greatest assets and one of my greatest enemies is: Stubbornness.

This came to a pivotal point in the year 2007, but my "heart" governed by education is what ultimately lead to winning a seemingly losing battle.

And, why I am able to succeed today, in my personal fitness goals.

For most of my fat loss, I never had to tweak Carbohydrates. Basically, all I had to do is set a calorie deficit (in my own 24 hour cycle style), workout 4 times per week, and fat came off rather easily. I could eat any type of Carbohydrate and at any time. It simply didn't matter, as long as a deficit was present, fat loss came (very brief synopsis).

About March 2007, a fat loss plateau developed at about the 9%-10% BF range, with me wanting to get to about 8%.

For 3 months, I "refused" to tweak carbohydrates, because of my past history of not having a complication with them being at relatively normal consumption levels with adequate fat loss rate.

For 3 months, I was manipulating the heck out of my weight training routine, and calorie deficits (NOT macro-nutrients). And this is going to grossly understate what I attempted to do: At times I was doing 4 cardio sessions at 30 minutes a piece per day--7 days per week. Mixed in this equation was "heavy" weighting training 3 to 4 times per week.

To make this short, and simple: It didn't work (again "grossly" over simplifying the process). I was frustrated, mad, depressed, and wanted to rip my own head off. I was moody and just flat pissed about it (foundation of my heart).

For 3 months I was simply flat stupid. I "wasn't" listening, "nor thinking out of the box", nor learning....what I should have learned.

And, to this very day, I will never forget the "learning" lesson it taught me.

I went on a shopping "spree"---for more brains. And, like I state once in a while on the forum: The time I spent, paled in comparison to what I had learned, and what I got in return. Again, grossly over stating: When I began to tweak Carbohydrates lower (increasing associated macro nutrients and reducing the ungodly amount of cardio), and increased and/or tweaked the "the energy levels" in my weight training workout program, is when I began to see results I wanted. My stubbornness was a friend and a foe, and my heart for my goal carried me through it---guided by education.

For 3 months, I made some monumental diet and fitness mistakes--applicable to me. I thought........I was doing everything right. I wasn't......doing.......EVERYTHING....right. Only some major things right (like eating right foods), but the macro components of those foods.........killed my goal.

However, another demon developed. Does this every stop....?

The side effects of low carbohydrate consumption. And, I pay rather dearly for it. Headaches, light headedness, etc. And, I will write what I did about it, if you want me to.

But.....it STILL takes some heart---and understanding what is happening "within you" during low carbohydrate consumption to assist you through. If you study what "happens" sometimes studying this very thing.....leads to answers in how to handle them--properly for you.

Of all the pictures I have shown on the forum, the one fondest to me, is the picture I first shown on forum. I have ALOT of blood, sweat, and many tears, behind that picture.

Now, I know what to do, how to do it, when to do it, when it concerns me.

I know what to do.....THANKS TO FALLING DOWN.......and getting UP.

TANK: Do not be afraid of trying and making mistakes.......just learn from them.....and have HEART.

You can have all the education in the world, and know how to apply it, but you have to have some degree of passion within the heart to see things through. I KNOW THE WALK. I have walked it.

And, I leave you with this thought.

This is your body talking:

I never stop talking day or night.

I never shut up; I am always flappen' the lips.

The language I speak is controlled by my forked tongue; I can sometimes lie and tell the truth.

I can be your greatest asset or your worst enemy.

Your attitude influences the nature of my tongue and the degree of my lip flappen'

You must keep tappen' the lip flappen to make YOU happen'

You walk with me but can you handle me?

Any questions?

Tank I hope your day was good. Much peace and happiness to you.

Best regards,

Chillen

Thanks, Chillen, for taking the time to write this. I'm sorry to hear about your back, and I hope you find relief quickly. I'm at the very beginning, the very gritty, difficult, but rewarding point in the learning process with my training. When I feel tired, or embarassed in the gym perfecting these new lifts, I just remind myself how much better I'll be at them in the future, thanks to the time and effort I'm putting in now.

Thanks again, buddy. Keep on rockin'.

Form is key, Tank. Tank....I mean take the time. . LIVE UP TO YOUR NAME!!!!

The time invested will in deed reward you many, many times over. The learning process is actually the most rewarding part. You garner the educational tools to view what you are doing. Then in the process of learning you apply what you have learned. And, likewise, you learn what your body responds to and what it doesn't. Learning never really ends. If you stop learning, you stop growing in the things in which you want to accomplish: This is for fitness and in life.

My back is fine when I stand and walking around. But, if I sit at my desk in my office for more than 5 minutes, and then get up, it TRIES....to kick my ass.

Any hoot, thanks for asking about it, Tank,,,,,,,,,,

Peace, man...

Glad to see you found a new outlet for your manifestos. LOL

I seem to have taken on the "improvise, adapt, overcome" philosophy. Not only with my fitness goals but with just about every other facet of my life.

Thanks James. Well, my stubborn ass earned a 4th vertebra hernia. It hurt so bad a few days ago, I had to go to the ER (my wife had to force me to go--yes, I am this stubborn). I earned this back injury doing the barbell bent over row, on the 8th rep (which was the progression rep), while bringing bar up. Like a dumb tough guy, I continued my workout and finished it. I have never not finished a workout, and this wasn't going to be my first. Pretty wise of me, eh?

Also, I don't like taking prescribed medications. I have liked the fact that my body has been self-sustaining for 50 years, and it IS this body in which is going to take care of my wife, when her illnesses start to prevail. But, I am taking them (anti-inflammatory, and pain), but less than intervals prescribed, and this is working okay. But, I am going to be out of training commission for at least 2 to 3 weeks or so, and this pisses me off. I always adequately warm up, and try to ensure proper form during the execution of the movement. Can not pinpoint the actually cause, and do not accept age as the primary. In any event, I will let it heal, so I can go back roaring like a lion as usual. I am not a complainer, so this is the last you will hear of it.

How is it going James? Been a while? Hope things are going well for ya, brother.

Peace and happiness to you.
