A nurse has recorded the most common regrets of the dying, and among the top ones is 'I wish I hadn't worked so hard'. What would your biggest regret be if this was your last day of life? 1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me. 2. I wish I hadn't worked so hard. 3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings. 4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends. 5. I wish that I had let myself be happier. |

If I am being honest, I'd say numbers 4 + 5 are still on my 'to do' list though I do try and keep in touch with those I consider friends. I currently wish I worked harder and expressing feelings and living the life I want are not issues, that's for sure! ![]() Other than the above, I would seriously regret not seeing more of the world and really hope I get the chance to do so. I would also regret not finishing my damned novel! I'd also regret not outlifting Steve

Very insightful.
A wise man once told me: Better to be what you is than what you ain't. Cause if you ain't what you is, you is what you ain't.

#4 is a hard one for my wife. I keep telling her to try and not worry about the reaction of anyone. At least she will have no regrets.

There is no greater, more peaceful feeling than living the life you were supposed to live by doing and being who you were meant to be.

Unfortunately, things never change; I had a friend who stated that he was going to work a bit less and spend more time with friends, after his parents died...seems he's doing the exact opposite, working more and seeing his friends even less.

Friends come and go, you get new ones. My friends from high school are not the same people, and neither am I. We wouldn't get along the same any more.
My biggest regrets would be... Not working harder. As a teacher I have the ability to really leave my mark on the world. While I try to reach every one of my students and inspire them, there is certainly more I could be doing. Having more fun with my wife. It seems we get complacent after 25 years together. This is good in a way because we can just sit in silence and keep eachother company (hard to explain unless you've been married for 25 years). But I wish for more oportunity to sweep her off her feet and hear her laugh. Lastly, sharing more of my experiences with my kids. Too often I leave the kids at home because I know at some point they'll get bored. But there are moments when I'm out fishing or four wheeling that I think, "Dang, my kids would have had a blast doing this." All things to work on... |

I had a wake up call a few years ago - made some life changes and ditched my high paid job to work longer hours for less money doing something I feel passionate about and alongside honourable people.
Best move I ever made. Funnily enough despite the fact I now work more, and therefore technically have less free time, I seem to do a lot more socialising, training, and playing of sport and am far happier. We can always try harder at everything, but it is important to be happy above all. This is not a rehearsal. |
