It should be noted that sponsorships are an attempt to assist active members of the MAB community. With that said, some minimum standards will be set. Please let me know your thoughts on these standards. 1) A MAB athlete must have at least 500 current posts. 2) A MAB athlete must keep a training log on the site. 3) A MAB athlete must make (on the average) 10 posts outside of his log each week. 4) A MAB athlete must compete in a given year. 5) A MAB athlete must not bring MAB into drama on other forums. Thoughts? I am also considering given our sponsored athletes a bio page and some love on Facebook with their own tab.

I like the idea of the Bio page and things of that nature. Always nice for people to slip the MAB logo on their videos and things like that.

What does the sponsorship entail?
From your side it seems you want the sponsored lifter to: 1) be an active member of the MAB forum 2) promote the site in anyway you can 3) compete 4) not be an idiot What are you offering to sponsored lifters in 2012? |

I think those criteria are solid, BTB.

I try to give away all the money the site takes in back to the community. (in actuality, I give away over 200% of what we take in, because it is something I enjoy) So sponsorships here are not the same as they are on other sites. I have no big revenue source, don't push supplements and put up minimal ads. The sponsorship cash is merely me sharing the wealth. The only reason I am forced to set a posting criteria is because last year we had several hit and run artists who took the money and ran. Just a correction...we do not ask any sponsored lifter to promote the site. In the past we have asked nothing at all - no meet reports, no bios, nothing. We don't even ask that they wear t-shirts at meets. I never will. It's not really in the spirit of what this is about. In past years MAB has provided anywhere from $50 to $300 per lifter each year, depending on meets. We have also done other things outside of cash. For example, I purchased LtL a new barbell in 2011. I believe I gave BBG a new belt in 2010. I also host websites and blogs for many people here, and have purchased their domain names for them. I have also invested a lot of personal time helping them set up their websites. So I do what I can to help each of them in many ways. In a perfect world I would ask nothing of anyone. The minimum criteria is merely set so hit and run artists don't screw active members out of sponsorship cash. Regarding post minimums...The reality is that I don't enforce post counts to most sponsored lifters. We have 5 sponsored athletes currently who post outside of their logs maybe several times a month.

I'll just add that if a criterion is not important/critical enough for you to enforce, I would not list it as such.
Maybe the others and then ask the sponsored athletes contribute to other parts of the board as their time and schedule permits.
