531 CYCLE 3 WEEK 1 SQUAT DAY

The shoes felt great, except about halfway thru the session, a small part of my right foot near the smallest toe started to hurt. Left foot was OK. I loosened up the strap which seemed to help. They are really grippy to the floor as well, almost like magnets. Once I was in place, they nor my foot did not move at all. The stability is incredible. They did assist me alot with sitting back on the back squats, which was the main goal. They didn't seem to help with the knees <> tho. Most importantly, they gave me the confidence to get 10 reps. There is no way I would have gone for 10 without them. The confidence they gave me made me feel like I could squat 500 lbs and have really refueled my passion to squat heavy again.

The front squats will take more getting used to tho. The shoes seemed to make the fronts more difficult for some reason. RDL's felt better with the shoes.

Finally, my Oly Lifting coaching starts this Saturday!!! I'm planning on taking it for 3 months. Let the good times roll!!

Good review, nice looking shoes, and some great f'n squats!

It'll take some time to get used to completely, but when that happens, you probably won't look back. Glad your happy with the purchase.

Thanks Pull!! I couldn't be happier with the direction my squatting has taken of late.

I am a zillion % pleased with the shoes. I think I will adjust quickly.

I was finally able to get my 2nd session in. This was of course my first time deadlifting with the Romaleos. They made the lift more difficult, but in a good way, sort of like doing a small deficit deadlift. I also had to make some adjustments with hip position. At first I thought the reason the lifts felt heavy was just me, but I'm positive it was the shoes as I was very well rested and fed. There was no reason at all for my CNS not to be ready to go. With that said, the deadlifts felt more natural and more comfortable. Once again, once I was in position, my feet were going nowhere. Stability is just incredible.

This was the 2nd time squatting with the shoes, and thhe squats felt much more comfortable. The two main, and most important, benefits of wearing the weightlifting shoes is that they allow me to sit back easily and really instill a major injection of confidence into me. In doing so, they also make the squat feel more difficult to me, but as with the deads, in a good way by helping me naturally improve my technique without me having to think too much about it. Now that i can sit back automatically, I can focus on other things.

In addition, that little spot on my right foot just below my toes, felt much better this time. This tells me that the shoes need a little bit of breaking in.

Overall, I cannot really think of anything bad about the Romaleos, outside of maybe the price. However, when I compare them to my day to day trainers I wear that cost me $120.00, the $200.00 for these shoes look like a bargain. In addition, how can you put a price on much improved technique and confidence.

Here are the vids:

I wouldn't use oly shoes for deadlifting. Stick with the chucks.

OK Big Al - I reckon then the deads were harder in a bad way.

Any other lifts I shouldn't wear them on? Is it just squats and Oly lifts I should be wearing them for?

For all the UK-ites, Strength Shop are soon to start selling these shoes for the wonderful price of £160... ¬_¬

Not really sure that translates to $200.
