good idea ! , not a weight but it is a number!
5/3/1 Because this program completely changed the way I trained . It introduced me to powerlifting and helped usher me away from the BB 5 day splits that were getting me nowhere |

700 competition bench
When I was first chasing this, it had never been done by anyone over 50 years old. Randy Patterson hit it first. Shortly after (01/20/07) I hit 320Kg(705 lbs). Now the big # is 800. The highest comp bench by anyone over 50 is now 766 lbs(Bill Gillespie) with my 755 lbs a close second. 771 lbs is a short term goal, but 800 is on the bucket list.

It was a milestone for me last year for squatting and dead lift, and it will be for bench press this year. There's something about that 2pps that makes you feel like you've really accomplished something. (And I expect 315 and 405 is the same.) No longer do you start out with little 5s and 10s. You walk in off the street and slap on 4 big plates and go to town. The peewees look at you like "Dude! You're a beast!" LOL

I have loads. 145kg in squat right now because it pinned me last time I tried. 120kg for bench as I see this as a gateway to the 300 pound mark.
My bodyweight for a clean and press. 400 pounds for the deadlift. As I hopefully reach each number, other figures will take on significance in their stead. |

A 140kg powerclean. It would be awesome to clean 3pps, Thats very strong for a recreational lifter i think.
I aslo dream about a 180kg front squat, but thats further ahead. A 140kg pc will happen this year!! |

I'm like T-bone. The plates. Hitting 225 meant you were in the club of decent lifters in most regular guy gyms. But 3pps is the big time for squat and bench, 4pps for deadlift in all but elite gyms. Those are the big numbers for me. I want to hit 3/4/5 by the time I'm 50. Only 3 years and about 300 lbs to go.
However if you want my real deep, dark secret number, it's 225 for a clean and press. When I hit that, I will truly be complete. Well, at least until I feel the need to hit 230 next !
