I certainly know that they can though. Some of my best friends have been girls. I even had a groom's maid at my wedding.

I will say that almost every friendship I have with a female started because I was attrected to her. It didn't go there, but that's how it started. The thing is, my wife KNOWS that. She knows that I crushed on the girl who later was my groom's maid, and it didn't stop them from becoming great friends. They're closer than I am with her now. My wife knows that in the end it's me and her, and everything else is only a friendship. It's nice that she feels that secure in our relationship.
