Clifs of the punishment:

-- NCAA is imposing a fine of $60 million on the University (equivalent to proceeds of one year) — An endowment will be established to be used around the nation to serve victims of child abuse
-- Penn State Football will be banned from bowl games and post season play for 4 years
-- Initial scholarship reduced from 25 to 15 per year for four years
-- Enter, returning athletes are able to transfer and immediately complete
-- NCAA to vacate all wins of the football team from 1998 to 2011 and record will reflect change
-- Football program on 5-year probationary period
-- NCAA reserve right to initiate an investigation and impose sanctions on individuals

I feel very strongly about the whole issue regarding the molestations. It was a horrible thing to have done to children and I believe there were people with knowledge of it that could have stepped in and stopped it. And those people should be punished.
Having said that, I don't understand why they are taking the wins away. That only hurts the students who played the game. Seems a little bit overboard to me.

I had the same thought when I saw the punishment list. Not sure how I feel abotu that aspect of the punishment yet...

A lot of players will leave and they will be hard-pressed to get a lot of top notch players to come in the future. Who knew that their football program generated that much money in one year?

Gonna be tough for players to leave this season, most schools have already given out all their available scholorships, and I doubt any Penn State scholorship players want to transfer and pay their own way. I would expect a lot to transfer next season.
