Classic Physique Builder: Dynamic Muscle Building - Steve Reeves' Other Book on Classic Physique Building! Almost choked on my coffee when I read the catchphrase - "How I gained 19 lbs of muscle in 2 weeks!" And then realized he was talking about musclememory. Even then, that's one hell of a gain. |

It indeed is. I haven't read this book (nor have it). But I think this claim would have been based on the time Reeves trained in Grimek's gym. Here's John Grimek's account of it.

I'm always curious as to how people "measure" these impossible gains. Only so I could be the dick to tell them they're wrong.

I've never seen that book but I have read Steve's other book.

It's pretty amazing how fast my old gains came back after a layoff. Can't say I gained 19 pounds in 2 weeks but I did make some pretty surprising progress in short periods of time.

Sure, but 19lbs of nothing but lean muscle? Come on... Let's be real here.

I am betting that if I had ever lost a lot of muscle/weight for whatever reason, I could eat it back fairly rapidly. Perhaps Steve didn't gain exactly 19 pounds of muscle, but judging from this picture he didn't gain much fat.

I'm aware that gains come back fast, but we both agree that the total of muscle mass is "skewed".
