I'm not sure what happens but the last two times I did squats my lower back went into spaism. 135 good form and had to put in wheel chair the last time. I have what I call UPS back. That's what they did for me. I think I'm more scared to try them now. I have done alot of core work latly. They don't look so great but are strong as they have been for years. I've thought about smith squats maybe with the weight balanced I wouldn't have as much stress on my back

If my back did that, I would stick to leg presses. I don't blame you one bit for avoiding them.
