I actually wear my belt most of the time nowadays for heavy squats, all deadlifts, OHP cleans and even for bench presses where I find it surprisingly useful. In my defence, I saw a pic of Jim Wendler wearing a belt benching though he was probably knocking out 250kg or something.
The guys in gym are often loud and obnoxious, I managed to persuade one guy to let me have the squat rack and he could do his arm curls elsewhere yesterday. The guy was a big as a house! There are some decent guys there, always are.
I generally mind my own business though I do watch when someone is lifting very heavy. I have noticed that hardly anyone in there can squat and I have seen maybe 2-3 people deadlift and maybe 2-3 people OHP and have yet to see anyone do cleans though I have seen one guy do sets of cleans and presses. This is in 6 months of being there.

I am a trainer, and have been doing this about 8-9years...I don't claim to know everything but I believe I do know abit more than a washed up basketball player that tells me that my client who plays overseas basketball for a living, that I shouldn't have him doing any conditioning because when he played for whatever school/tech his coach had him swim. Because as he told me, "Swimming worked every muscle I had."...Oh rly?!?!?!
