And what was they trying to prove? That using compounds and progression won't work?
That if you are consitent for 20+ years you won't gain amazing strength and muscle?

Some skinny kid wanting cuts who didn't believe my advice that cuts only come with diet. He's trying to figure out the magic rep range to achieve "cuts".
