NBC dumps 'under God' from Pledge at U.S. Open

I agree with you guys, but if I'm not mistaken, I believe the original wording of the Pledge didn't contain the words "under God." They were added later. I'll do some leg work (sorry, Rich).

I'm an atheist, but as far as I'm concerned, if you feel like you have to change it, don't put in the program in the first place. Everyone knows it's "supposed" to be there, so taking it out is making it into even more of an issue than it would have been otherwise.

Politics and religion aside, it is "our" pledge and I think if we don't like it, or a part of it. there are better ways of handling it than to throw a tantrum on national TV. There are many things I am not pleased about, but there are proper and dignified ways to express my displeasure.

The hypocrisy in all this is that if certain god-loving religious groups in this country demanded "God" (or whatever) inclusion in something, NBC would run like lap dogs to appease them.
