Heavy ass push presses, seated presses and standing strict presses is the remedy.

I'm a huge fan of the standing military press. Old school all the way.

Of course, there are also Arnies, front barbell raises, lat dumbbell raises, and overhead squats.

BHTNP really makes them ache and hits the medial delt really nice. Also to echo dmaipa, what are you doing atm, and what does the rest of your routine look like ?

Carl.

Dumbells rows will hit the rear of the delt plenty.
Benching will hit the front delt plenty.
Behind the neck pressing with a wide grip will hit the medial head.

There are a few other moves that can also be used.

I have come to the opinion that more people should spend a far greater amount of time developing good shoulder strength and stability first, before heavy bench work.

The sport has become to focused on creating oversized pecs, and too great an emphasis on the bench press as the major upper body strength lift.

Shoulder work should be put at a higher place of imporance over pec work.

IMO.

Jeff - did you look at my routine??
I use only 1 sometimes 2 deltoid-specific exercises with each routine.

Adding a dedicated shoulder workout to your over-training will just hurt you.

As has been asked: what does your whole routine look like right now?

Progression is king. Don't worry about burns or pumps.

Use some form of overhead press with a barbell or dumbbell as the cornerstone, and make sure you focus on progression.

If you go all out on overhead presses, you'll surely get some boulder shoulders

I think your right. I'm just so new and everywhere you turn there is someone or something telling you how to do it. Now I know there's nothing better than hard work. My upbring with a football star brother and his friends have put a bad taste in my mouth(if you know what I mean). I for once see me as a contender (if you will) and want to exceed that, that was ever possible by them. And now that I'm doing it and seeing the results don't want to stop. Kinda the mind set "the more the better". And thats what I have to break.
