True. True.

Problem is people have no idea just how big 170 pounds of LBM is.
It sounds small compared to Cutler, etc.

I am just amazed that someone said &%$# and you were able to understand. What does &%$# sound like when spoken?

Seriously. Why the need to see abs? I would much rather strong abs then visible abs.

I never needed abs to catch the interest of a woman. I'm not joining the back-patter's club here. So it's a mystery to me...

Being big without cadiovascular conditioning, is over rated. For example, When I was a police officer we had a person that was quite big and muscular (absolutely great for close quarter combat for a few minutes), but get this person out running down a few blocks, he was out of gas, and his muscles became useless--just slabs of meat and thats it. My 3 year old niece could kick his ass. I would rather have a well-rounded individual with strength and dexerity, than pure muscle mass any day of the week.

Personally, I can understand both side of the equation: Those that want to "truelly" reveal the core, and the ones that do not. Its all relative. Its relative to what the individual wants out of their diet and fitness. Their goals are not our goals, and its as simple as this (IMO). I never had to have abs either to get the woman I married, but this doesn't point to individual goals, which can be as different as in our taste in foods.

BMI calculators on the net are useless and inaccurate. In addition, unless one is "looking at theirself with an educated eye", most are inaccurate in estimating their personal BF levels. Personally, (whent its time to check BF Levels), I get a DEXA scan, which is one of the most accurate within the medical community right now. It gives both lean body mass and body fat mass, along with other useful infomation(such as bone density, etc).

I don't want to know what my BF% is. This is because I know enough (for the most part thanks to this site and it's members) to dread the answer!!

Abs are useless. I can't think of a single heavy thing i can lift with my abs alone.

I think most people can maintain a healthy level of body fat without too much trouble; and this can be pretty lean for some.

However, using fat as a deterrent to putting on size is illogical and stupid. You're going to gain fat one way or another if you want to bulk.

Best of both worlds: Deadlifts and cream!

I can, You couldn't do the back squat/front squat without contraction of the core acting as the stabilizer (which serves as one of its MAIN functions). It isnt just the legs (quads) getting the work in. All muscles have a purpose, and work together to complete a task. For that matter, you couldnt sit in a chair without them. Get them extemely sore or injure the core once, then general functional tasks we take fo granted everyday have a new meaning, lol.

In addition, I may add that the core aids in stabilization (and is activated) for the following lifts/exercises:

1. Military Press

2. Squat types

3. Dead Lift

4. Pull-up varients

5. Bench Press (minor)

6. Lunge varients

To name a few. It tightens and supports the body during the execution of the lift.
