We're getting a British Superman.

Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have found their new Man of Steel. Deadline had been hearing for the past weeks that British actor Henry Cavill was the frontrunner for the much coveted Clark Kent/Superman role in this much anticipated reboot.

Just out of curiosity, are Europeans obsessed with superheroes like Americans are?

Let us hope they pull together a great story from the comics to make the movie work. The guy looks the part (and so did Brandon Routh), but you just can't save a bad screenplay.

I hear ya. I think Superman works when there are relatively normal people like Luthor taking him on with machinery and all that. The original Doomsday story was good. The best comic movies borrow faithfully and heavily from the best of the comics from which the characters come.

That said, Supes may just be a bit too squeaky clean for today's audiences.

I hope this movie does not play him as "Jesus/Messiah" like the last one. It doesn't work these days and really can't be done better than Neo on the Matrix movies.

His story, to me, works best as the story of an adopted son. Never human, but desperately trying to be so, even though the world needs him to be this outsider (alien with powers). That inner struggle, to me, is gold. I Love the recent comic idea of having him walk across America to get back in touch with people and his own humanity.

Yeah, I'm a huge fanboy.

I'm pretty easy going as far as villains. There are so many good ones in Superman's past that really I would be satisfied with just about any of them.

Darkseid or Parasite would be interesting, but I doubt they would go that route. More likely to see Zod or Brainiac or Bizarro I think.

I was thinking Braniac might be a good choice.

If I were going to use Darkseid as a Villain, it would have to be in a Legion of Super Heroes movie. The Great Darkness Saga is still one of my favorite story lines.
