Suround Sound

How do you get surround sound on things like Cell Phones, Laptops, hand held video games and video recorders with out external speakers or mic's.

Surround sound used to mean the sound came from all the way around you even behind you.

Is surround sound the NEW name for the old standard stereo?

I don't consider it surround sound unless it meets 2 conditions:

1. The source audio must be correctly formatted to provide multi-channel playback.

2. There are physical speakers surrounding the subject.


I used to work at Bose, and even with the level of quality product they are(and it's very high IMO), I could still tell a slight difference between their high-end simulated SS, versus a real multi-speaker setup.

My last cell phone was considered stereo, as it had 2 built-in speakers. But that doesn't make it surround sound, IMO.

So why all these "Seround Sound" Cell Phones and such don't get bashed or called out on it. NO people snap them up just to make the clame "They have Seround Sound". We are feeding busnesses the right to lye to us and get away with it. Even getting paid for lyeing to us.
