Moneyball...

A potentially great story that fell short due to poor pacing, unneeded scenes and forced sub-plots.

David Fincher's Girl With A Dragon Tattoo - really, really good. Lisbeth definitely has a different personality to that presented in the Swedish adaptation of the book, but Rooney Mara plays her sublimely. It's difficult to choose between the Swedish version and this, as they're both excellent films, although the soundtrack far surpasses that in the original and really allows the sinister tones to come through. Shame the second two Swedish films don't live up to the original.

Saw Journey 2 The Mysterious Island. Entertaining because of Dwayne Johnson, but nauseatingly formulaic.

The Invention of Lying--another great premise: everyone tells the truth. No one has ever lied and no one knows how. Then one guy learns how to lie. The movie devolves into a love story and the whole "lying creates funny problems" is forgotten. Wasn't very good.

The Muppets, though considered a kiddies film, I didn't think much of it, it was missing something; it could be that since I grew up with the Muppets on TV, the film didn't live up to the same standard. I was expecting it to be more humorous but it didn't deliver. Not bad as films go but I wouldn't even recommend it for kids, though they may enjoy it. Hubby described it as bitty because it didn't gel from one scene to the next, on occasion.

I think what made it really stand out was that the cinema was about half full, maybe two-thirds, with most of them being girls and yet hardly a laugh was heard throughout the entire film.

I try to limit the amount of kid flicks I see because there are so many bad ones. I try to read quite a few reviews before committing.

The Thing...Not a movie, but a collection of scenes with no real dialogue and no characters you cared about.

Boring.
