The first is 'To Your Scattered Bodies Go', then 'The Fabulous Riverboat', then 'The Dark Design'. I believe there were some more after that, but unfortunately I'd lost interest in sci-fi by the time they came out.

Filming them is ambitious.

I will have to give the books another look.

Speaking of sex and sci-fi, I remember reading John Varley's Titan, Wizard and Demon series in the 80s and being shocked that everyone was mating, even with alien species.

I watched I am Number four and it was ok

Also watched Hobo with a shotgun (with rutger hauer) and it was fun but a bit too much haha

Also watched The Warriors Way which is a sureal ninja/kungfu/western hybrid and it was great.

I watched Kill The Irishman and I really liked it.

I watched 127 Hours and it was decent, but at times slow.

I expect everyone but me has already seen Gran Torino. However, as I like to remain fashionably behind the times, I watched it last night. Here goes.

I thought it was great. It's nice to see something out of Hollywood that doesn't assume the audience has Attention Deficit Disorder.

It's a simple storyline, but there's enough meat on the bones for it to stay interesting. Walt's initial alienation from a younger generation (and an urban America) he no longer understands or cares for is handled with real pathos.

Clint's transformation from racist uber-curmudgeon to slightly-less-racist granddad figure was a bit too convenient, but he pulls it off pretty well.

I'm not a christian, but I enjoyed the religious symbolism in the film and thought it added another layer of interest. Walt makes for an unlikely Christ-like figure, but I guess that adds to the charm.

Who knows if this will be Clint's last film, but it would be a good one to go out on.

I finally saw it late last year. Being an old geezer, I have to make sure I watch dramas when I am wide awake so I don't doze off.

I gave it a thumbs up. Usually if I don't care for a movie I dump it when I get bored.
