i will use for example: DOMS now most of us know it equates to being sore after lifting but for the noobs when they see this they may just not understand what your sayin. defenition: Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness breaking down of muscle fibers brought on by phyical activity that can lead to soreness in the next 24-72 hours that usually will subside in 7-10 days hopefully you guys get the idea and after we get a bunch of terms that you guys feal are important for noobs and hardcore guys to know we can get steve to make it a sticky. it can be terms with defenitions or links to them if we want. but it would be nice to have it without links so guys can get there answers quickly. i think this can really help educate.

Thanks for starting this. I will organize it as we add terms.

ok guys lets do it this way. just put the terms out you think are most important and i'll do the leg work of gettin the definition together and putting a whole page together for steve to make a sticky. this is somethin that i pm steve about and he asked me to get started so lets get it rollin. terms could be anything from body comp to supplements. just put the word out there and i'll do the rest.

just to get a few examples out.
ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph, BMI noobs probably would not recognize these terms if read in your log. BCAA, Creatine, Glucosomine, Omega-3's now people may recognize the supp but may not know the true value of it or its general purpose in your body. like i said just throw out the terms and i'll find the definitions and or benefits. all i'm askin for is some help puttin the list together. There is a thread like this somewhere else that I will try to go find. That should save some work, and we can edit and add as needed.
Good idea here "J". Here's a few things to draw from: http://www.trygve.com/weightsglossary.html http://www.trainwithmeonline.com/glo...glossary_d.asp http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/glossary.htm Last edited by glwanabe; 02-21-2010 at 09:02 AM. |

this is a good idea. I have trouble sometimes reading some post because of the abbreviations. Thanks J.

btn- behind the neck
btb- i use this for behind the back (often used with wrist curls) A1, A2, B1, etc- used to denote supersets where each letter is the pairing, and the numbers are the order of the exercises superset- to do 2 or more exercises back to back, often used only for 2 exercises tri-set- to do three exercises in superset fashion giant set- four or more exercises in superset fashion circuit- similar to a giant set but typically denotes that all exercises are done one after the other complex- similar to a circuit, but uses exercises that would follow a logical progression and typically using one piece of equipment and the same weight without any rest (ex. barbell row, romanian deadlift, hang clean, front squat, military press, back squat, btn press, power cleans) juice- nickname for steroids
