Well here's a list of what I do:

Network Admin
Surveillance system
2 way microwave communication troubleshooting
workstation (40+machines and laptops) + printer maintenance and fixes (all the damn time)

Automated Meter Reading System Administrator.
Trouble shoot our Outage Software. (By outage I mean we are an electric utility and the software reports electric outages to our dispatcher)

How old are the workstations? And do you work with a lot of technophobes? Sounds like they keep you very busy.

None of the computers are super old. All P4 2.2ghz or higher and all with XP pro except for 5 machines with XP home (long story).

Only a couple technophobes. Those are actually nice because they too scared to tear much up. What I have are mainly over-zealous clickers that can't even tell me what they did right before the PC went nuts on them.

Well, I guess if you use the term losely. Since I consider some spyware so aggressive and well hidden that I've seen some viruses that are easier to remove. And then there is malware...blah blah. You know. It usually due to them surfing to sites they shouldn't...not necessarily porn, but like games and looking for free ringtones. Those are often times riddled with spyware and malware...even though I don't know the technical difference in those two.

To me it's like a Mild to Medium to Bad would be Spyware to Malware to Virus. But it all really runs together to me. They are all just programs designed to give someone the blues

My last experience with being an admin was in 2000, and back then everything was so new that often times when a new attack hit a system, it was fun to find a way to remove it.

Anywho, here's hoping that BGF takes off so the days of computing will be a distant memory.
