Heavy Deadlift Variation today - should I pull from blocks or pins? (both will be at same height and I'm not sure if there's a difference).

FWIW, if I want to pull from pins at my desired height, then I have to stand on a box.

I'm saying blocks if they're available. Pins never feel right, but are the only options I have at my gym.

Perfect! So it's been decided. I've been pulling from the floor for the last few weeks of heavy deadlift days and I wanted a variation.

Yeah, I mostly wanna do it for recovery purposes/sticking point training. I feel like pulling from the blocks will help me with hip drive and working on not raising the hips too fast.

Let's pretend I don't have "real" blocks at my gym to pull from.

How many 45lb-plates can I stack to replicate a 3 inch block height?

I would stack 2 and see how that looks. 3 can get hairy
