When did you stop "Going to the Parents" for the Holidays?

Didn't even go to the parents for holidays, when we were living with them; very dysfunctional family...so, I can't really comment from a personal perspective.

But, I'd imagine, since you're asking the question, that would indicate that you'd rather pull back a bit from them, so now would be the right time; just a thought. Though, it may never be a good/appropriate time, in their eyes.

I think it depemds, to a certain extent, on how close a family is. For example, our neighbours travel to see one another (daughter, son-in-law, and mother) frequently but are excited to do so and often spend holidays with each other. Of course, Britain only really celebrates Xmas and New Year with no Thanksgiving, so there's less family get togethers, in a sense.

Aye, it's just a hassle to spend time with 2 families as my Partner's mom lives right down the street, so I either spend Xmas eve with them and then head to Baltimore (5-6 hour drive) for Xmas day or the reverse. And of course Mother In Law only has us, no spouse or other relatives. Lately there's been an increase in tension on who "Gets Me" on the high holiday of Christmas Day.

Just trying to develop my strategy now so I can address it right when the inevitable comes up.

Invite both the families to your place for the holidays.

I am lucky, my family goes to my wife's family for holidays so we are all together at one time. It's worked out really great.

Unfortunately the way my mother behaved at my 40th birthday party will make this an impossibility or rather an explosive situation. LOL

Assuming both of you guys live in American that'll be easier said than done! Nintendo of America have made no indication that they're localising it for you guys, which is completely retarded on their part as it's supposed to be incredible. Loads of Americans have imported it from Europe though and used a workaround on their Wiis to get it to work, so it is possible to play. Can't wait to get started with it whenever it arrives!
