Jim, I don't know if you've been keeping up to date with the thread I started for you on Sugden. But you've had some very encouraging replies. 3 guys who say that was their diagnosis as well are coping with it and have gone on to set PR's in the Deadlift.

Quote:
This is more or less the exact same report from my MRI in 2009.

He'll be fine.
The guy who wrote that recently pulled over 500 and pulled close to 600 in a suit. I know for certain he's drug-free as well and he's actually a Surgeon himself.

Lower back injury help. Sugden Barbell.

Good thread Fazc. I haven't responded because I was racking my tiny little brain trying to remember who it was that I knew with a similar diagnosis. I approach my obstacles this way, it is just an opportunity for me to prove "them" wrong.

Fazc - I love you and your friends man, I just fucking love you like a brother. That thread has now given me hope and the will to rehab it no matter how long it takes.

JB is coming up with a plan that focuses on Bench and will include light squats and leg press and will not include pulls or related lifts for now. I will follow that while I get my second and third opinions. The second opinion will not be coming until April tho. I do have an appt. booked with Chiro on Monday.

In the meantime, I just want to make double sure you and your friends there are suggesting I do some light pulls and SLDL or RDL's. In the past I have preferred RDL's.

My preference is to continue powerlifting of course and I fully trust you and your friends advice. If you also endorse this I will have faith and proceed.

I have been doing dead hangs quite often for quite some time, but I will do more and work some chins in. I also foam roll often with a rumble roller.

I did bookmark this thread and was going to look at it later today, but your post made me look right away this AM

I thank you from the bottom of my big old emotional heart Fazc.

Rehab really works. Do it right and do it daily. As for Romanian vs. stiff. Check this article. Romanian is better for those with low back issues.

I thought that would cheer you up mate.

I would still proceed with caution, get a second opinion and then proceed under a Doc's supervision. But the experience of the Sugden boy's should at least provide some hope.

It'll be fine

Squatter, I don't know you much. I just saw the thread and saw everyone's response. I have always seen you very active on MAB. I particularly remember your love for deadlifts, I saw that in one of your posts some months back.

You are already a winner brother. I am your big fan. I am sure you would come out of this. I would pray for you. Let me know if I can be of any help whatsoever.

Meanwhile, given your love for lifting, do what you can and do it best. I know it is easier said than done. But, a fighter like you would come out of this.

Amen!

I'm having a tough time with what to write here man, I just want to wish you the best. I hope that in time this can be overcome and perhaps you will be able to deadlift again. I think you have a good plan of action and I can't wait to see that bench skyrocket!

Cheered me up big time! I'll do JB's program to the letter. My appt. is in early April. It sure is a drag that in Canada, the waiting lists are so damn long. Hope sure is a wonderful thing. I also reflected on the hell you went thru a few years back - it also provides inspiration to me.

Thanks Master! I have seen your posts in Ravi's log and I sure appreciate your words of encouragement. I now have hope, desire, and will to see this thru. I will try to prove the Doc wrong no matter how long it takes.

Jim,

I've looked at hundreds of lumbar MRIs like yours and I have had spine surgery...I'm going for 500 next year!

Many doctors don't know shit about the spine, especially for a well-trained athlete like you..

I'd be really happy to talk to you. If you're interested, PM me and we'll go from there...

Squatter, there are many incidents I have read on internet when doctors had advised their patients not to lift weights, but form work , rehab, patience, and constant monitoring have helped patients to recover and do what they love.

I am sure you would deadlift again that too more than 500 lbs. Just be positive and there are experts on MAB who are already helping you. Keep up the fight bro. All the best.
