So I posted on here how I lost my cat that meant so much to me on Wednesday. Well someone had the nerve to tell me when I said it was so hard for me to cope that at least you have 7 other pets to keep you company. Really? So if I had 8 human kids and lost one, would you say well you still have 7 other children to take their spot. I was so appauled. Don't expect everyone to fall all over me bc I am not the only one to ever lose a pet but have some compassion please.

I can appreciate your love for animals. But animals are not the same as humans. I've lost many pets in my life and felt bad about it, but losing one of my kids would be eleventybillion times worse or more. Let's keep perspective in our lives.

Someone on here said that?

I saw the thread from a few days ago, seems everyone was sympathetic, no?

I think you're mistaken. I checked the thread and no one here did such a thing. Perhaps you post on other forums?

I think she's referring to someone outside of the forum, a friend, co-worker or family member etc.

I know that losing a child would be worse, a lot worse. But I do not have children right now, so they are sort of like my kids. I was just saying that the person was very insensitive about it. I do not expect everyone to be compassionate but have some tact. I just lost a family member, and that person had no right to say that. That is all I was saying.

No it was a friend. Should have stated that better, no one on here.

It has to be remembered that not everyone will see pets in the same way; we had a snake and I was extremely upset when it died but doubtless others would have seen it the that way.

The other thing is, language doesn't always come across correctly, especially if one person is emotionally charged, we can misinterpret what others say just as others can use the wrong wording and end up saying something they hadn't intended to do.

Just bear both those points in mind.

So sorry for your loss. I appreciate that you love your cats and see them as children. If you do not have children then they are like your children. Just bear in mind that some are not cat people and that maybe why they are so insensitive.
