I love my wife!
I haven't talked, seriously, to her about my plan to compete in powerlifting. I've mentioned it, but nothing about plans or anything. I thought it would be a long, long discussion about time and money. However, she knows how much I love it. This morning I was showing her some pictures of powerlifters. She said, "that's what your going to do right? Aren't you going to compete? ". I said yeah, and I'm dragging you with me". She said, "You don't have to drag me, I'll go." When my little girl said she wasn't going to a powerlifting completion, my wife told her "Yes you are, we all are". I'm so fricking happy! As soon as I hit a 300 bench, 400 squat, and 500 dead...it's on, the fam is on board!

That's great news. Always nice to have the support of your family.

That is great. Family support is necessary to compete, since most competitions take some amount of $ with travel, entry fees, and such.

That's great man. Having that one competition goal each year can make a world of difference.
Now the question is...are there many meets up there by you? |
I hear ya!! My family had one of the best times ever at my first meet in Vernon, BC last July. It really brought us all closer together in many ways. They said they loved watching the comp and got a chuckle at a guy walking like a Gorilla.:)

Thanks guys! Steve there is more competition here than I would have thought. I live relatively close to Salt Lake, they have competition there. Rock Springs is even closer and they had one. With a few hours drive time I could go to Gillete or Idaho. If I just did 1 or 2 a year I probably would have an hour or two drive time. I'll have to see what is offered next year, but that's how it would have panned out for 2012.

Good for you. I have a 5 year old son who works out with me sometimes. It is such an awesome feeling to be doing something positive as a family...as parents, we have to set a positive example for our children. I am trying really hard to get my wife involved with working out. The problem is that she and I have very different opinions on what is working out.

I have 3 kids. My son is almost 13. I want him to lift with me, but he wants to be a ....long distance runner. He's built like me though.

That is great. Family support will really help. Don't wait to hit those numbers though. Get on the platform ASAP.
