We are not allowed our own local culture. It might offend other cultures.

What happened to acceptance and tolerance and enjoying the culture of other people? Grumble, grumble, Darth Vader costume, grumble, grumble.

Yep, they are pretty progressive in Seattle.

They have been doing that in Kalifornia for years. Liberals do not like "American" culture, they much prefer "World" culture. Undoing our forefather's work, one child at a time...

This is ridiculous.

I come from a culture that is vastly different from the culture here. Know what I do on Halloween? Park myself in a cafe, next to the window in the busiest area of the town, so that I can enjoy the multitude of costumes that folks wear.

Batman, superman, OBL, a sadly un-muscled Conan and a Gandhi (both shivering in the mid-western cold, lol) ... its fun to see all these different costumes. In short, I like Halloween.

I love exploring other cultures and cuisines (especially). I also cherish my own culture. There are many things we grew up with that give us very distinct cultures. Self-loathing media mouth pieces in this country often paint much of our culture as trashy nonsense, but I'm not buying it.

Locally, Wisconsin has a very distinct culture. We have a unique dialect, sausage stands on every corner, a crazy fondness for cows, plenty of unique holiday traditions and a cuisine based on cheese.

Having seen 43 states, it's has also been fun exploring all the unique cultures we have within our borders. From green chiles and balloons in New Mexico to amazing southern hospitality and cooking.

Kids are not allowed to dress up at the school in my town either. I find it to be not right. Why take away from our culture? If someone does not like it then they should stay home for the day. We should not be able to take this away from our kids.

Culture, in the eyes of most governments is a one-way street, you must protect others from your own national and cultural traditions at all cost so as not to offend but at the same time you must accept all other nations' cultural differences so as not to offend and what occurs as a result is that every national living in the country gets wound up, with good reason, because they are being "held back" at the expense of incoming cultures which are permitted freedom to thrive, which then results in racism which has been caused by the government of that nation and not by the people themselves.
