Default Nike and PEDs

Lance Armstrong Nike part ways- MSN Money

Quote:
"Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him," the release continues. "Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner."
On some sites Nike is taking heat over some of the athletes it has partnered with in the past, but is it Nike's job to guess who might be using drugs?

I don't think that is Nike's job, but for them to drop him AFTER all of this went on is just ridiculous. I agree with most of the articles that state how could they have continuously assumed that he didn't use when all of this was going on for years!

In my mind I think it is a shame. Yes, he is guilty of using but so are tons of others. He is banned from competeing in practically everything, so let him use this time to continue to raise money to fight cancer. That is something that NIKE and LIVESTRONG could have done with him and now they both have dropped him. That's what hurts the most.

Nike does not condone the use of drugs in sports, even though drugs are rampant at the highest levels of all sports....

however, they do condone the use of child labor in poor countries so they can make a 90% margin on their overpriced sneakers.

Just like Muscletech.
They sponsor some of the biggest steroid users on earth, and the biggest untested BB show.
They have fired several athletes for admitting use, except for Cutler.
Hipocrisy at its finest.

$$$ Nike is a for profit business.
Nike sponsored him when he was popular and the use of his name made them money.
That isn't the case anymore so they cut him loose.
Just a business decision in my opinion, regardless of the moral qualification for it that they are citing.
