Question Week of my powerlifting meet & dropping weight?

Alright I need some help from all my powerlifters out there. What do you guys usually do the week of the meet? My meet is next Saturday. Also, I weigh 245 right now, but don't really want to compete in the 275 weight class...need to drop down to 242 by next Friday...any advice? Thanks!

Do nothing, foam roll, sleep a lot!

3lb cut is easy. Lots of ways to go about it. We have a thread somewhere on the site for it. I have to run to lunch, but when I get back I will link it for you. I typically do anywhere from 8-12lbs for my cut. Best of luck at the meet!!!!!

I dropped 9 pounds for my last meet by:

--Eating low carb from Tuesday to Friday, but keeping my calories normal.
--Reducing water intake starting Friday (the weigh in was Saturday morning, but I lifted on Sunday).

At some point my joints began to feel slightly achy so I drank a little water and it helped.

If you want to try a low carb route I would test it during the year, and not just throw it in on a whim. Find out how you react.

Water manipulation is the quickest and easiest way.
One thing to think about....your scale and the meet scale may not be identical.
Check your weight on the meet scale as early as possible. Tell them that you are only checking your weight and that it is not an official weigh-in.
If you're over a little you'll have time to sweat it off in a sauna.
Another alternative is to lose an extra pound or two (on your scale) before the meet.

Be sure you are completely rehydrated before you lift. Lifting while dehydrated promotes injury, and also cuts into your strength.

Best of luck!

That's why I go low carb. I pee non-stop for 3 days.
