When going low carb, does anyone work out the amount of carbs based on their bodyweight and activity levels (but still low carb) or is it generally based on a set guideline from a book and/or article? I recently read that 200g carbs could be considered low for a 250 lbs bodybuilder but that 150g may be considered too high for an elderly male etc; so, I got to wondering how calculations are made by people and whether different methods are employed to get to the carb intake that each person settles on as their base carb usage.

I guess it depends on the slant. Those that do it for health don't monitor things, they just eat certain foods. I know bodybuilders do it differently though. Let me see if I can find the thread.
