Shout Box Not Updating?

Posting for reference.

Fear not, if your Shout Box isn't updating the issue can be fixed. It is actually not a site issue, but rather an issue with your home computer. The most common issue is:

Internet Explorer. Web developers hate this browser. It doesn't play well with the Internet, and causes the web design industry countless man hours each year because it is so clunky and craptastic.

So, dump IE as your browser. That will cure 90% of the Shout Box issues.

If you're not using IE, do the following:

1) Clear your cache.
2) Update your browser.
3) Update java.
4) Update flash.

If that doesn't work, switch to Google Chrome Browser. I use it, and I love it.

Shoutbox seems fine for me, and we use IE...maybe it's just quirky.

Just installed Chrome on my work PC specifically to view the SB. As a bonus it also hides my browser history

You might have a nice version. Not all of them are monsters

I use IE on one machine and Firefox on the other...... IE gives me fiits!!!

If you check the source code for websites, 99% of them have to add a special CSS file to deal with IE.

IE hates the web.

IE8 does not refresh the Shoutbox on my work PC, but it does at home. Not sure if we have a special version of Java or Flash. I will try to clear and update those. It is a bit aggravating when you wait for a response that never shows up, and you lost in the rest of the convos..
