A few tips. Hopefully this will help.
When I am deadlifting I never think about pulling the bar off the floor. I think of the deadlift as 2 parts: 1) Standing up. I do not initiate the lift by trying to pull on the bar. That is not as natural as trying to stand up. A focus on standing up will better help keep the hips in place, as we do not raise our hips when standing. On the other hand when we try to pull the bar off the ground it can be easy to lose the natural feel of standing up, and it's common for our hips to come up as we initiate the deadlift. Pulling often becomes almost like rowing. If you stop the videos of many lifters when the bar is only an inch or two off the ground you will see the hips have come up, and leverage is lost. Explosively stand up. Your body knows how to do this. 2) Lock out. I do not lock out the lift by only standing up, and I never think about pulling up. I lockout with what I call a lever motion. My head and hips are the ends of the lever. I thrust my hips forward while driving my head back. This feels very fluid, and works in tandem. The mid-back is the axis of the lever, and when the plane of my head moves back while the plane of my hips drives forward, it pushes you to a lockout. Practice this motion by see-sawing the head back and hips forward. You'll notice it feels natural and powerful. Start with the bar a hair below your knees. Watch deadlift videos where lifters are struggling to lockout. You will see the hips hanging back, not driving forward, and the head staying forward, not trying to drive back. Huge mistake. Forcefully slide these planes apart. That's your source of power and leverage. These opposing forces working together will force your torso plane to go where it needs to go.

What a great read, im deadlifting later today this has been a great help, ripping the weight off the floor is my bit problem, but if i can get it up just 4 inches i never fail to lock out. I had a full knee replacement a few years ago so my quads and hamstrings are very weak, yet my back is very strong.
