By Bill Hinbern Today I received several phone calls and emails asking me to list what I thought were the best books I had ever read on training. A tough list, indeed... But nevertheless, if I had to come up with a list of books that I personally feel would catapult you head and shoulders above the average trainee... That would literally save you hours, days, weeks, months, even years of wasted effort and grief. Not to mention wear and tear on your joints... I would have to say the following would fit the bill. But Steven, even if you took the time to seriously read half of these books and retained the information that they contain, you would make huge strides and experience mental and physical changes the likes of which you wouldn't believe. So, here is the list in alphabetical order by the author's last name: 1. Super Strength by Alan Calvert 2. Progressive Resistance Exercise by Dr. Thomas L. DeLorme M.D. and Dr. Arthur L. Watkins M.D. 3. The Way to Live by George Hackenschmidt 4. Wrestling Physical Conditioning Encyclopedia by John P. Jesse 5. The Key to Might and Muscle by George F. Jowett 6. Dinosaur Training by Brooks Kubik 7. Gray Hair and Black Iron by Brooks Kubik 8. Strength, Muscle and Power by Brooks Kubik 9. The Complete Keys to Progress by John McCallum 10. Strength & Bulk Training for Weight Lifters & Body Builders by Reg Park 11. The Production of Muscular Bulk by Michael J. Salvati 12. The Text Book of Weight-Lifting by Arthur Saxon 13. Super Squats by Randall J. Strossen Ph. D. To read more about each of these books, go to the following page: Super Strength Training Books and Courses And if you don't believe these books are that good, just ask anyone who has read them. The feedback that I've received over the years, tells me that each and every one has been chosen for very good reasons as the favorite of hundreds of trainees. Until the next time... Bill Hinbern

Not actually a book on training, but a very motivational book, "Seal of Honor" about the military history of Navy Seal Lt. Patrick M. Murphy. He recieved the medal of honor for his actions in operation Redwing in June 2005 in Afghanistan.
The part that is relative to physical training is the discription of BUDS training Navy seals go through. When the sets get tough....just think of Lt. Murph. "Quit" was not in his vocabulary.
