an inspiring thread.

He talks a lot of sense, is great that he makes a big deal about not missing workouts, not enough people do that!

an excellent read and am now very tempted to buy his book!

You're spot on about dedication. Half the battle is just lifting heavy weight 52 weeks a year.

Just read this whole thread. Unbelievable! I thought I knew it all and got one hell of an education. Thanks.

I'm glad you liked it. John never received much attention. Too bad he died so young.

I haven't read this thread in a few months. Time to spend some quality time and read it again this weekend. Everytime I read it, I'm ready to go hit it.

This might sound sappy, but every time I read it I feel connected and re-grounded to the iron. Though I don't follow his routine, his simplicity is challenging and his passion motivating.

Not sappy, I know just what you mean.

Lately, all I think about is getting stronger, and pushing more weight. Do another set at top weight. Push a couple more rest pause reps. Pull one more dead, you can do it.

Thats not a middle age crisis hitting. Thats just me wanting to challenge myself to get better, and not settle for a Planet Fitness attitude.

I want to scream loud, and breathe heavy with a loaded bar on my back, or hanging from my hands. I want more weight overhead, and I want to push it clean.

Luckily for me, I'm wasted from this weeks work, or I would be back out in the garage screwing around.

What you described leads to me wanting to workout more days a week. The older I get, the more I enjoy daily time with the iron. I would hit it 6 days a week if I could.
