I have done goblet squats for a good amount of time, as I had only dumbbells to train with. I did it for mass as i had no option. I must say, I did gain mass with that (with proper protein intake).
Goblet squats will enable you to keep your knees out during squats which a double dumbbell squats will not. Its a great exercise, but what you must be careful about is the weight you take. Heavier weight puts a lot pressure on the upper back when doing goblet squats. You must gradually raise the weight in this exercise.
