Default Where to get a tire in SE Michigan?

When you read an article about acquiring/making strength equipment, there is always a line like "Tire yards will give away big old tires because it costs money to dispose of them", or something similar.

I'd like one for sledgehammer work, flipping etc. But every place I've called has reacted like what I'm asking for is insane - why would they give me a tire? Even when I make it clear I'm looking for one that they are just going to dispose of, etc.

Any direction here would be appreciated. I'd throw a couple bucks at it, if necessary, but lots of people seem to get them for free...
