Thanks Mike. Makes sense, but seems like a more advanced lifter type thing. I'll hold off on those SSB squats for quite a while yet. I have enough trouble staying upright with the straight bar!
Yeah, it's funny how deadlifts beat the snot out you, but it's sort of a stealth beating. For me, I feel it way later. Squats beat the snot out of me and I start feeling it right as I'm doing them. The last few reps hurt all the way through. It keeps hurting some all the way into the next morning, but after I get moving the next day, I feel pretty good, mybe just a little quad soreness depending on how hard the squats were.
But Deadlifts, I feel great all the way through the lifting session. Even if I miss a max, I usually still feel good and often want to go after that rep again. However, the next day I'm wiped out and it lasts for a couple days often. That's why I always deadlift on Fridays, I get two days rest afterward.
I started competing this year. March 31st 2012 was my first meet. So far only done USAPL. Next year will try some 100% Raw Federation meets. Honestly, having a meet out there on the horizon makes me work harder. If I wasn't competing, I doubt I'd work very hard very consistently.
Thanks for the info. Interesting.
