Was biggest failures have been:

1) Stopping for periods of time.
2) Forgetting to have fun.

Smashing PRs is good and all, but this also has to be an enjoyable process. Far too often we get sucked into someone's dogma about "lift X" or "method Y" and get pressured to do something we don't want to do.

For example...you might like leg curls while 90% of strength coaches see no value in them. Do them anyway. Lighten up, relax, have fun with them. Lilliebridge does them and Hepburn did them.
