I once read that working out is like doing drugs, when you start even a small amount will have an impact but as the body adjusts you'll need more and more to get the same kick; a poor analogy but it does bring up a perfectly good point...people new to training don't need to "kill" themselves in the gym and a small amount of sensible exercise will go a long way.

And as Titan so subtly states, doing something is better than asking a thousand questions prior to even starting...
