People do that all the time though, don't they. Wanna start playing golf? Go down to the sports store and unload as much money as you can on a set of clubs that the salesman recommends. Afterwards you may ask where to get some instructions on how to use the danged things.
But when it comes to weightlifting, it's even more basic than that. We use our muscles every day, We don't need a science manual to tell us how to do it, our parents taught us before we could talk. Lifting isn't much more complicated than walking.
