Well for starters you never want to use "1/lb of body-weight" because you have people who are obese, morbidly obese and those who are under-weight (context of the individual). You want to work with LBM, so you get a more accurate and practical intake.

From research that I have read on pubmed, and other sources, they say a typical sedentary individual requires roughly .6g per pound of LBM. And I've read anywhere from .8-1.2g for athletes. Again, context of the individual.

For my personal opinion; you can't really go wrong consuming 1-1.5g as long as calories are adequate (context).
