On dips, I always try to tuck my legs up towards my chest and keep them there. That turns your chest towards the ground slightly and brings your chest into the movement a lot more. It also lets you go all the way down without getting your arms so far behind you that you get in a bad shoulder position, as well as keeping you from throwing your legs down, inadvertantly using momentum to finish the movement.
