Hope that pain in the knee is nothing. Was it muscle or joint? You shouldn't feel pain in the knee because of weight when you are squatting, generally. I know when I was feeling some pains I went back and checked my form against various tutorials and made sure I was doing things right.
Good form usually equals no pain, well, no joint pain anyway!

thanks Mike, it seemed to be joint pain, but i pushed my knees out further on the last set and worked on form and it was fine.
