This is what I was trying to get across in my reference to Squat or DL programs. My observations are that most powerlifting/olympic lifting type routines are far more intensive, overall, then the typical BB split. Note, the operative word is typical. I know a number of guys preparing for competitions who use a split but are doing work far more intensive then mine. However, the average person, hitting the gym 4-5 times a week, IMHO, intentionally keeps the intensity levels in what they consider manageable. Thus, do not challenge the CNS sufficiently to need frequent rest days. Even with my most intense efforts, while on a split, I found I could go longer without a rest day then I can on my current full body plan. Then, that is just me.
