I am battling this right now. I believe my metabolism problems are really do to decreased efficiency due to years of carb overkill.

SO by keeping your carbs low(er) than that of the average person on a 2k calorie diet which is like 300g of carbs a day, so can thus maintain a healthy/active metabolism in later years of life
^That is like 30% a question, 70% a statement with no scientific research...lol
