A didn't really reach my expectations on bench this morning. I thought I should have had 5 reps on my top set, only hit the required three. As I noted above I haven't deloaded in a few cycles, this may be starting to catch up.

Everything else felt good.

Hey bro,
I agree on the deload. Helpful but not necessarily needed. Imo there is enough rest to not need it. I wonder if anyone ever rotated the weeks so that every week you do a 5 a 3 and a 1 training...? Anyway... How is cbl going? Did you do prep phase or were you low enough carb to hop right into it? Nice training.

Must be the deads. The squats seem to be going well. I just may not be a squatter, but I'll keep pounding away at it. I will post up my next squat workout, which is scheduled for late this week.

Definetly not needed everytime. I saw a video with the big bald DYEL guy saying that basically deloading every 4th week meant you were growing a vagina for x amounts of weeks a year. It made an impression.
Yes, there is a template that rotates weeks. I can find it for you more info if you'd like.
CBL is good. I was eating sub 30 grams of carbs and I still do on UCL days, so I didn't really need the prep phase.

I took a couple months off of deadlifting due to back problems.
This is my 4th week pulling.
My back feels great.
I am not using 5/3/1 for deads.

Notes:
Pulled 385 relatively easy 3 weeks ago, struggling with anything over 365 now. So far I have just been working up to a heavy single every week. I think I need to start implementing some modulation. Either way, I am ok with taking my time and working back up to where i used ot be. Considering I couldn't pull 225 a few months ago, I am happy.
Also I've made some serious form adjustments and i identified some major mistakes i was making.

Great work Josh! Really happy to hear your back is doing well and pulling is feeling better! I've learned that for whatever reason, deads can be so different week to week. Obviously if you pull max or have a really heavy session, doing it week in and week out will take its toll. But I've had normal training and then one week something I can do 7 reps for is glued to the floor. I try not to let it get me down as next week it'll fly right up! I also hated 5/3/1 for deads, all those top set reps sucked and didn't work for me. Long ramble done ! Keep smashing big man!!!!!!
