Default A few thoughts on BBB

Just got done with my first week of the Boring but big assistance template.
Very pleased with it thus far.
I feel I am achieving significantly more with less exercises. IMO, that is some good stuff right there.

Wasn't sure how I would feel after the first BBB deadlift day. I've never done high rep deads. I wondered to myself, where would I be sore?

Well, 24 hours later. I now know. My hamstrings are probably the most sore. My quads are tight, but not sore. Surprisingly my calves are much tighter than I would have expected. I always thought deads worked the calves, but I'm still surprised. My abs are also tight/sore. I intentionally left out any direct ab work, but I feel like I did some sets of weighted ab crunches.

The biggest surprise of all is that my lower back is not sore/tight at all. While I had quit the back pump when performing the BBB sets, today I feel nothing. Which is a HHHUUUUGGGEEEE positive.

I wish I could have said the same thing after squat day.... I was tight for days!!!!!

Really pleased to hear things are rolling right along for you Big J. I applaud you for being able to do BBB deads without any lower back issues Are you doing them touch n go?

Something to be said for less is more eh?

Excellent news. that's always my big concern for some of the lifters who are less experienced than you are.

Thanks Jim. On the BBB sets I am doing touch n go. I used 40% of my current training max, so they were light enough to enable me to do so. I'm sure if and when the weight increases that I may get to the point were I can't touch and go!!!

Less is more, meh, pump up the volume!!!

I think it's a valid concern. Like I told Jim, I only used 40% of my training max so I didn't exactly push the load. Although, don't get me wrong, I felt that 40%!!! In an odd way, I think the light load high reps actually helped the lower back. Don't know the how's or the why, but it seemed to work, at least this time.

Less is more, meh, pump up the volume!!!
I think touch n go is OK no matter what the weight, as long as you stay tight.

Strong as hell on the OHP. Rack Chins rock as well.

It gets to the point when i'm doing heavier deads there is just no way in hell i'm doing touch and goes.
