Lot's of good volume there BtB, despite the strains and pains.

My opinion is that Speed Benches when done correctly are actually pretty stressful. It's not light work, as some people say it is. It's hard and should have a proper training effect. Sounds to me like you're doing them correctly and that's what you're experiencing.

However the flip-side of that is initially they're quite hard to recover from. When I first experimented with them back in the day, I couldn't Speed Bench and Press heavy in the same week. It took a lot of work for me to condition myself to it. I had to lower the weight a lot as to not detract from my heavy work and slowly build up.

Just my 2 english pennies.

I found the same as Faz. When I lowered the working weights, I was able to do both. I also cut back on pressing in my assistance for a while before building back up.

Good job Steve. How close is the grip on the CGB?

Something is messing up my shoulders, and looking at my log, that addition is really the only thing that makes sense. The speed benches have definitely been hard.

I guess since I am moving lower frequency for a month, I am going to keep them in but space things out more. We'll see if that helps.

My shoulders are very hit and miss, but when healthy, my eccentrics are light years better, as is my strength. I need to keep them healthy even if it means slowing gains to +25 bench every year.

I am going to cut my assistance work down to 2 working sets per exercise, and pull speed work off of heavy day. We'll see how things work out.

Thanks Al.

Been going good, just been crazy busy. Had 2 weeks or railroad class followed by 2 weeks of playing army. I am back at home and ready to get back to my routine.
