I agree, a little more aggressive and fresher and that was yours mike. Also noticed you spent a little longer getting set for the 335 than you did when you smashed the 325 with ease.

325 looked easy enough. I agree, you would have gotten 335 if you had pushed some more. Also, looked like you had mentally mastered 325, but wasn't quite as set for the 335. It will fall next time, of that I am sure.

Awesome work on 300 for reps

Thanks, fellas! 335 is right there, I'll get it next time for sure.

Mark, you and Kit pegged it. I just wasn't comfortabe with the weight because I'd never really held that much before. That's the one drawback to this program is you're always crushing lower weights than your max, you don't get much feel with max weights. But, that's why I'm adding in singles here and there.

And good day today too even though I missed a max deadlift. I think it was the same thing, just not used to that much weight in my hands. I was kind of shocked when I first pulled it off the ground.

Anyway, Cycle 5, week 3

Warmups: Swings 2x 10x 30 each hand, Jump Rope 2x 1 min.

Deadlift:
5x 275
3x 305
1x 345
1x 365 (10 lb PR)
0x 385 (Got to knees and stalled, should have gone for 375)

OHP:
5x 115
3x 130
4x 140 (PR)

Underhand Lat Pulldowns:
5x 8x 240

Core:
3x 15x Banded Abs (Need stronger bands as this was not very hard, even doubled up)

1x 345:
1x 365: (my daugther with the cameo)
4x 140:

So, pleased with the PRs, esp. after bombing last deadlift/OHP day. I could have doubled 345 easy, but I knew I was going to go for a max, so didn't. Shouldn't have been so greedy, but 365 really wasn't too hard, I really thought I would get 385, but not to be today.

I'm also pretty sure I need to work on my form with deadlifts as that is some of my problem. I need to get stronger, sure, but something is not quite right when the bar reaches my knees. That's the make or break moment in the lift.

Also, I thought deadlifting first would affect my OHP, but not so. I felt fine going for extra reps even though that really wasn't the plan going in.

There you go. Good day. More coming.

Too bad you missed that 385, but hey, you did get a solid PR beforehand!!

Perhaps try to get a sie view next time, as it is easier to critique. I didn't really see any problem from the front view. The cue at your problem point is to "f*ck the bar" - so maybe if you focus on that hip drive it might help. Here is an article on the site that also may help:

http://muscleandbrawn.com/forums/art...ng-points.html

Nice to see the garage door open - must have sort of felt like lifting outside.

Congratz on the OHP PR as well. That is a helluva lot of weight to rep over your head.

PR in deads.
PR in OHPs.

doesn't get any better.

I do think though that you have quite a few more lbs in your OHP - I think if you try a wider stance and a slightly wider grip, you will lift quite a bit more. After the first rep, your legs tended to move apart wider automatically. But even then, I think the knees were shaking a bit. I reckon a wider stance will be more natural and provide you with a more stable solid base to push from. Wider stance, slightly wider grip, brace the belly and I am confident you can lift at least 10-15 lbs more than what you got today.

Looking strong mike. Multiple PRs with Deads are rough, anything near maximal takes so much out of you. Good work, and keep on smashing!

Fly out here. I'll train you on some of my technique. You have a good follow through though. You got past that sticking point and the hips started to accelerate.
