Thanks guys

Took 2 days off after missing a 182.5kg squat attempt, need to re think my squatting approach its been too long since I squatted 185kg I have not PRd in straight weight for far too long. I would say i am sitting around 175kg wrapped right now, which is stupid cos I squatted 170kg with no wraps not long ago with the SSB, and also a wrapped 174kg with the cambered bar. Something is holding back my straight bar squat but I cant put my finger on what, I feel super loose through the midsection and glutes with the straight bar, but tight and strong with the SSB. WEIRD.

Really have no idea what to do

Have you ever tried to work directly on your quads, meaning assistance work?

Only thing I've tried is split squats to be honest, they turn into a knee/hip flexor destroyer for me when I go heavier though, usually stick with reps at 10-15 +.

Why do you ask BtB?

In modern powerlifting the quads are somewhat ignored, but a lot of guys like me and Jonathan Byrd have monster quads and really believe in the importance of quad strength.

I thought maybe you might want to do a quad specialization program for a few months to see if it helps.

ME Squat Day 24/2/13

Paused Squat + Red band

1x3 95kg
1x2 110kg
1x1 125kg
1x1 137.5kg (PR and held form)
5x3 100kg Long Pauses
3x2 107.5kg
TNG
2x2 112.5kg

Sumo Deadlift + 2 Chains No Belt

8x1 160kg No Rest
Add Belt
3x1 170kg

Leg Curls

2 sets to failure

Pulls with the belt didnít move as fast as hoped, I was pretty trashed from the squats and beltless pulls though. Next wave is straight weight doubles. Squats went great, I have found what is likely the major contributor to my lasck of strength with the staright bar, it is all to do with bar placement. Last night I felt very strong
